Tire Service in Kansas City, KS

Some parts like your battery are shielded against the elements, as they sit comfortably underneath your hood. Your tires are different, though, as they constantly touch the ground and support thousands of pounds. This can put a significant amount of stress on your tread, but there are ways to make your tread last a lot longer on the road. If it’s been a while since you’ve last balanced, aligned, or rotated your tires, our mechanics can help you today at Victory Hyundai at The Legends.

What Services Do I Need for My New Tires?

If you’ve recently gotten a new set of tires, you might not know where to start. If you’re near Topeka, Kansas City, or Overland Park, we can help you today at Victory Hyundai at The Legends.

  • Getting a New Set of Tires: If you’ve recently gotten four new tires for your vehicle, then you’ll want to make sure that they’re balanced. Although your tires might look the same, they may be different weights. When you start to hit high speeds, this can cause some significant issues, and your car may even start to vibrate violently. Our mechanics can use a machine to calculate how much weight each tire needs. This is what’s commonly referred to as “tire balancing,” and it’s one of the three main services that you should opt for if you want your tires to last.
  • Have You Checked Your Air Pressure?: If you haven’t already, then you should take the time to make sure that each tire is at the proper PSI. You’ll generally want to check this every now and then, especially if there’s been a sharp temperature change.

Are There Other Tire Services?

There are two other services that you’ll need on a routine basis.

  • A Tire Alignment: Has your car been drifting to the left or the right as you drive? This is a sign that your tires probably need to be aligned again. As you hit curbs, bumps, and potholes, they’ll slowly shift a few degrees to the left or right. This puts more strain on your tread, which is why it’s important to keep them aligned.
  • A Tire Rotation: Your drivetrain is going to put more strain on certain tires than others. For example, if you drive a RWD vehicle, you can expect the tires in the back to wear away quickly. By rotating them, you should be able to keep each tire at a relatively similar amount of wear.

Is There Anything Else That I Should Be Doing?

If you’re already caught up on your services and you’ve checked your air pressure, then you should be good to go. You’ll still want to occasionally check your tires for any signs of damage, though.

  • Keep an Eye Out for Wear and Tear: There are a few signs of wear that you’ll want to look for. If you see wires poking out of the side of your tire, or you notice that the tire has a bulge, then it’s likely unsafe to drive your vehicle. It’s important to check your tires before you make any long-distance trips, as you don’t want to have a blowout when you’re hundreds of miles away from home.
